Course Description
Little Coder Grades PK-K
Materials: KIBO, CUBELETS, SPHERO and LEGO
Club Scikidz presents beginning programming with Kibo, Sphero and Cubelets . These new tech materials will excite every child! Inspire a love of learning through play. Cubelets are robot blocks that make it fast easy to engage children in learning about STEAM. Yes, young children can be introduced to beginning robotics and programming at Club SciKidz without computers! We have the perfect Robots for that! Fun and intuitive, KIBO, Cubelets and Sphero provide the best beginning creative robotic and programming opportunity. Children build their own robot with KIBO, program it to do what they want, and decorate it too!
Young children learn by doing. They scan the blocks with the KIBO body to tell the robot what to do. They press the button and the robot comes alive. With KIBO, young children can become programmers, engineers, designers, artists, dancers, choreographers and writers. And unlike other activity kits out there, KIBO is based on over 15 years of research in learning technologies and child development at Tufts University, including testing with over 300 children. No screen time involved! All Hands – On and the best method to introduce programming concepts to young children!
There’s no wrong way to build with Cubelets, so it is remarkably easy to transform these blocks into brilliant bundles of robotic curiosity. Students learn by doing aspects of circuitry, magnetism, computer logic and more. Sphero is the world's first app-enabled robotic ball and a sophisticated companion for a smart phone or tablet. We will learn, play and explore with this awesome robot this summer. Sphero 2.0 rolls at speeds of up to 4.5 mph and pairs to a device (counselors control the device). We teach our kids to race Spheros and watch the excitement explode. Sphero lights up too and is amazing to play with and to watch.
Lego free builds, fantastic Lego Sets, Marble Mazes and more add to the fun and creativity in this camp!
